Truthers – Ed Tasca – One Sheet
Official Finalist – American Movie Awards Hybrid: Romance/adventure/comedy

Log: Male-female buddy movie – Conspiracy investigator unknowingly becomes conspiracy victim and conspiracy spearhead.
ACT I: Journalist Jonny De Ritis, desperate to keep his job at a down-market conspiracy magazine, sets out to track a molecular biologist who might have the key to a Big Pharma cover-up on an anti-aging drug that could be toxic. His search has him bounced around from one well-respected but peculiar “pillar of society” to another, all of whom innocently provides him with a small piece of info on how to find and approach his target, a recluse living alone in the remotest area of the Grand Canyon. He’s even provided with a good luck charm.
During his investigation, Jonny meets a feisty, contrarian journalist (George, female), who belittles his “cheap” scandal hunting. The two don’t hit it off, but George tries to offer Jonny a job, showing him evidence that his story doesn’t have legs. Jonny discovers his editor has sent him on what is believed a “sap” assignment to get rid of him. He quits. He takes George’s offer. When Jonny gets some new signals that George is wrong about the conspiracy, he resumes his journey, hoping to get his job back. George changes her mind and accompanies Jonny to the back of beyond with the idea of writing on the foolhardiness of his venture. Jonny starts to believe her to be part of the conspiracy, and treats her with suspicion.
ACT II: The venture into the canyon wilderness gradually gets surreal, with weird encounters with men and animals and with Jonny suddenly also acting weirdly (like aggressively challenging a long-horned sheep to a head to head battle with his car). George starts to question her decision to join up. Their relationship turns by fits to colder and warmer when Jonny uncharacteristically does a torrid striptease, which befuddles George. Relationship warms to intimate until George interrupts the act to reveal she never had an orgasm. Jonny realizes his bizarre aggressive behavior is a result of taking the anti-aging drug himself.
The couple finally finds the recluse scientist who’d been hired by the Big Pharma company to reassess the anti-aging product. But the scientist is a mental and physical mess, rambling incoherently about the sexual-dysfunction side effects of the drug. He’s extremely aggressive, all from, we discover, testing the product on himself. When Jonny hands him FDA data given by one of their informants, he recognizes an insulting prank written in the molecular bonding of Fluorine and Uranium (F.U.) and goes ape. He also discovers Jonny has a gun, given to them for “protection” by one of the informants. Scientist sets out to kill them based on the insane so-called Castle Doctrine. They escape the murderous scientist’s compound with his mad zoo of experimented-upon animals, and Jonny gets wounded.
As they are being fired on, George, hidden with Jonny and excited by the extreme danger, has her first orgasm. A moment later, the danger at its greatest, Jonny is forced to shoot and kill the scientist (homicide interruptus) – fulfilling the conspiracy contrived by informants, who are now revealed to be conspirators through a hidden camera given to Jonny in the good luck charm.
ACT III: In court months later, irony is Jonny led his own conspiracy, and self-defense can’t be proven on manslaughter charges. In the courtroom, we see the surreal shape the co-conspirators are in: grotesquely sexually dysfunctional and aggressive – hetero-ambiguous, transgendered, male mamalaries – side effects from the anti-aging drug. But since no one individual helped Jonny find the scientist, they’re all deemed innocent, even though as a group they were behind all of Jonny’s actions. Jonny and George, judge decides, will serve time.
Turning point: George realizes the good luck charm given by a co-conspirator is missing. George suspects it is tied to the conspiracy and chases the co-conspirator (co-owner of one of the companies behind the drug) who gave it to Jonny. A huge fight with a bull-dike Lesbian wins back the charm, and the micro-camera within the charm confirms that the company owners were provoking Jonny’s excursion and his shooting of the scientist. On the evidence, judge changes his decision. And takes the informants to task for perjury and provocation.
Jonny and George write up their story for Truthers and save the magazine. Jonny quits the low-brow mag and George hands him her job at Skeptic, while George goes on to write the novel she has long promised her literary parents. They become a couple with George looking for a honeymoon in one of the most dangerous spots she can find.

When there is no contact info given you have to pitch it and if they want they will contact YOU.

The post says: "Loglines should be one or two sentences while conveying your premise"

If they are intriqued they will contact you.

"Loglines are tricky things – distilling 120 pages of script into one sentence and imbuing it with the power to summarise, titillate and intrigue is a surprisingly difficult task."

If you don't like responding to posts where the producer remains anonymous then you will have to respond only to the producers that reveal themselves. It is up to you.

Anonymous producers will only respond to you if they like your pitch. Your pitch should be simple and short (you don't have to reveal a lot of information the way some writers tend to do here).

Writers do get contacted if they do a good [sign in to see URL] a lot of times by a producer that the request wasn't even made by.

Yesterday a writer that frequents here asked me to remove his post because his script has been optioned by one of the producers that browses the forum. The producers and writers that visit here are literally from everywhere in the world.
