REDWOOD: A UFO STORY

LOGLINE:

Following a heated child custody hearing, divorced couple Danny and Denise McKelroy are forced to share a ride home and, while traveling a remote two-lane blacktop, are abducted by an alien spacecraft. When only Danny returns, the local law smell foul play but are hard pressed to find him responsible for her disappearance.

SYNOPSIS:

The Redwood Sheriff’s Department investigates a recently divorced woman’s disappearance after she’s awarded full custody of her five-year old child. But according to her ex-husband, music video director Danny McKelroy, the two were taken from a moving vehicle by a blinding white light beaming down from above.

Just to complicate things further, several other townsfolk come forward with similar tales of bright lights and strange objects moving over Redwood. But when McKelroy himself is asked if he’d been abducted by aliens and passes his polygraph with flying colors, the Sheriff and his staff fear the people of Redwood may be inclined to believe his far-fetched tale of spaceships and alien abduction. Desperate to keep this story from making national news and ruining their chances for a conviction, they enlist some unlikely help in the form of Nick Black, the wisecracking host of a UFO/paranormal podcast called "Creepy Crawlies". He's tasked with making Danny and the people of Redwood look like nuts, crazies and conspiracy theorists. But this fool-proof plan backfires when Nick finds further evidence that one of Redwood's residents may be holding an alien visitor in captivity.

Along with Danny and his cameraman and partner Johnny, the three men venture deep into the forest and hold a live broadcast from the secluded farm house where the alien is supposedly being held prisoner. Upon arriving, they are shocked to discover that Sheriff Phipps and his staff have been holding up here for years, secretly attempting to make contact with the alien visitors who abducted his daughter eight years earlier. Danny soon learns that the alien in the barn may be the secret key to his wife’s safe return as he, Nick and Johnny devise an outlandish plan to get her back alive.

Title: MERCY

Logline: Based on the popular children's game of the same name, four strangers are haunted by an unknown entity, known simply as "the Monster", who terrorizes their minds, as well as their sanity, using the same tactics of the game.

Brief Summary:

Four strangers, with no connection to each other, are methodically sought out by a mysterious entity, known as the "Monster", who has carefully chosen its victims, determined to punish and bring suffering to the evildoers, as well as those it considers "unrighteous", by involuntarily and unconsciously exposing them to a demented and psychological game of "Mercy". The "Monster" inflicts its damage using the very tactics of the game. With the only escape from the psychological torture being the desperate plea for "mercy", those victims consciously aware of the mind game will discover that it's easier said than done. Fate has methodically kept them apart, but "mercy" will strangely enough, draw them closer together.

Genre: Suspense, Mystery, Psychological Thriller, Psychological Horror

Target Audience: Men/Women; 18+

Anticipated Rating: (R)

Title: WIND IN THE WIRES
(Registered with WGAEast)
By Kathleen Gerritson & John Furnari

Genre: Sci-Fi (UFO/ALIEN)

Synopsis:
A strange woman walks into a Hell’s Kitchen Pub one stormy New York evening and orders a whiskey. Her demeanor catches the eyes and ears of the barkeep and a one of the regulars. Seizing the opportunity for a free drink or two, she begins to spin a yarn about a cop she once knew....

As the story goes, Paul Petrie is a very good cop having a very bad week when he and his partner Ray respond to reports of a missing child spotted roaming on the east end of the shores along the sleepy little town of South Beach, NY. In the process of rescuing the boy, a series of seemingly unrelated events explode in rapid succession turning everything that Paul knows on its head. After bringing the boy to the local hospital for treatment he learns that Ray was murdered on that same beach. Ray, you see, stayed behind to investigate a strange wreckage that has washed up near where the 4 year old boy was discovered.

Turns out the wreckage, apparently unloosed by super storm Sandy drifted to shore some months later and that wreckage turns out to include cargo that is outer worldly. Further investigation of the site reveals evidence of EBE or Extraterrestrial Biological Entity and UFO activity attracting the attention of NASA’s Office of Inspector General. Ultimately, the OIG seizes all of the cargo/wreckage and along with it all the evidence of the homicide of Sergeant Ray Freeman. Moreover the missing boy’s family is gruesomely murdered heightening the tension and urgency. Consequently, an inherently disparaging Paul is doggedly determined to solve the mounting crimes at all costs.

He continues by investigating reports of UFO activity in the Bronx related to the events that beset South Beach. Meanwhile his fellow officers are following other possible leads including the interrogation of an Ohio Ufologist, a quirky middle aged couple who live nearby the wreckage site, and an astrophysicist whom like the rest of these characters, may know more than he’s telling. All of them are well aware of the activity of aliens known as Tall Whites and Short Greys in and around the environs of the North East and Great Lakes. All of them will eventually help connect the dots and the events that have impacted directly upon South Beach.

Unimpressed and undeterred by the ET/UFO/Fed angle Paul is singularly one step ahead of everyone and will not allow the bizarre events to forestall his mission to get Ray’s and the family’s killer. To Paul Petrie, a perp is a perp. When the final showdown comes to past, Paul’s credo withstands and justice is served albeit not without some unexpected twists.

Pitch: Signs meets Dark Skys

If the material has piqued your interest, a hard copy PDF of the feature length screenplay(s) will be provided for your consideration upon request.

Title: RAPTURE

Logline: A sudden outbreak of disappearances in a small, rural town is mistaken for the biblical "end of times" Rapture.

Synopsis: Just after the annual "Caught Up in the Clouds" celebration at sunset, several residents of the God-rearing township of Clear Falls, USA mysteriously go missing. Has the Rapture finally come, as many of the townsfolk suspect? If so, then why weren’t the rest of the “righteous” townsfolk Raptured as well? As those left behind argue and bicker over that question, they come to realize that something other than the Rapture might be responsible for their loved ones’ disappearances - such as an invasion of malevolent aliens who have a taste for human lifeforce.

Re: UFO, Aliens, Sci-Fi Horror Scripts Wanted--Upfront Pay

Hi, are you interested in a near future sci-fi horror TV series (12 x 1 hour episodes) unique and well outside the box? I have the scripts for Whistleblower. You can check it out at [sign in to see URL]

This is not Hollywood formula, it's intelligent and unique as well as gripping.

Logline: Earth is blighted by kids that kill. It’s Jake Redwood’s job to stop them. When the mysterious and beautiful Jane tells him these are just a symptom of something much worse going on, it starts a roller coaster ride to save the planet from alien mercenaries paid to wipe out mankind.

This is a very fast paced and gripping drama. It would be high(ish) budget (think ‘Flash Forward’ or ‘Wayward Pines’ but a gripping detective thriller horror). It’s written in the Raymond Chandler style. It’s edge of seat thrilling and tastefully gory. Each episode ends with a cliff hanger and the plot is complex and intelligent supporting a high octane action pace.

I can send episodes, a synopsis or the full scripts plus the novels should you be interested. Contact me at davidsmith24689(at)[sign in to see URL]

Best,

David
