Seeking Screenplays In Which The Protagonist Is A Writer

A producer seeks screenplays about a writer. A playwright, novelist, poet, ... even a teacher that teaches writing. Any kind of writer.

This is just an idea (Hey Jake, this is for you):

How about one where the writer failed to read the fine print in the submission form: "I acknowledge that many ideas, programs, slogans, scripts,
suggestions, and other literary, dramatic, or musical material which is
submitted to you is similar to material previously used, previously
submitted by others, or already under consideration by you..."

Hello,
I've had a hand in writing 4 produced feature films, the latest of which stars Ben Kingsley. Please let me know if you’d be interested in reading my feature-length drama, based on a true story, REWRITING LIFE. The logline, synopsis and my bio and credits follow. If you'd like to read the script, please provide your name, bio and credits.
Cheers

Logline:
When a screenwriter tries to help an abused woman achieve her goal, he has to overcome her inner demons to help her.

Synopsis:
Gentle, funny Richard is an up and coming screenwriter. He’s everything Andrea – who struggles to make a living as a house cleaner -- could hope for in a man, everything her abusive first husband wasn’t. But she’s at a loss as to what to do with her life. Pushing him away when he tries to fix things, her depression takes over her life. After a marathon, 300-mile bike ride through the Mohave, she returns to tell him she wants to become a doctor. He’s all for it, and does everything in his power to help her achieve her goal. With everything stacked against her, she sets out on an incredible personal journey. Starting at junior college, she eventually gets her B.A. from the university. Now 49, she’s turned down by 40 medical schools. But as Richard tells her (like with submitting scripts to producers) all it takes is one. And one admits her. Andrea’s packing to go when her abusive father drags her back into his life one more time, keeping her from attaining her goal – at least this year. One year later, she enters medical school.

Hi! I have a drama/thriller in which the protagonist is an aspiring writer/English graduate student. It's low budget, with a limited yet racially diverse cast, and mostly takes place within the family home.

PRODIGAL - A repressed grad student's life implodes when her troubled stepbrother's return from rehab disrupts the family's stability.

**NOTE** This script received a Recommend rating from WeScreenplay. It's also a finalist in the 2017 WeScreenplay Diverse Voices contest. ['Cruel Intentions' meets 'Shame']

SHORT SYNOPSIS: The story follows Zora, the demure daughter of a Pennsylvanian politician. When her charismatic stepbrother, Alex, comes home from rehab, Zora is drawn to him. She struggles to find the balance between being her own woman and pleasing her hyper-critical father, who is vehemently opposed to her getting close to Alex. As Zora and Alex form a relationship, family secrets start to unravel, and the truth behind Alex’s dark past comes to light.

"THE LITTLE MORNINGS"

An old drunken writer has a best seller, but contract includes national tour. This guy can't make it to the bathroom, using empty wine jugs for urinals. He knows he can't tour, but with a little coaching, his granddaughter's loser boyfriend can take his place.
That's when things start to go [sign in to see URL] they can only get worse in this noir crime tale.

I'll send a pdf copy of script upon request. Thanks, Car

My feature screenplay "HAIL MARY" is in development by Travant Productions

"A Royal Nightmare"

Logline: A vulnerable screenwriter must fight for survival after being stalked and kidnapped by his ex-lover.

My name is Matthew H Emma and I have authored a psychological thriller titled: "A Royal Nightmare" that I would be honored if you took the time to read. One of my other scripts was recently purchased by another production company.
I would categorize "A Royal Nightmare" as a 2017 tribute to "Fatal Attraction." The story is about Marek, an Oscar-winning screenwriter feeling jilted and abandoned after breaking up with his long-standing girlfriend. Soon thereafter, Marek is coaxed into meeting Athena, a well-known Manhattan socialite, who also happens to be the Crown Princess of Albania. Little does Marek know Athena is also a mentally disturbed, obsessed fan with a history of stalking and abusing men. Their relationship progresses smoothly at first, but Marek is soon put off by Athena's arrogant and self-absorbed manner. Marek attempts to end the affair, but instead of accepting it and moving on, Athena slanders Marek in the press and brutally attacks one of the former couple's mutual friends.
Upon learning of Athena's sinister tendencies, Marek desperately tries to escape her clutches, but each attempt is met with greater resistance and increasingly dire consequences. In addition, many of Marek's close friends and associates become hapless sparring partners in Athena's psychological prize fights. Marek eventually changes his approach and, just when it seems like he makes a breakthrough, Athena double crosses him. Marek then finds himself in the ultimate struggle for survival.
I am confident the psychological roller coaster ride, as well as the high stakes in "A Royal Nightmare" will engage a wide array of moviegoers. It is also my firm belief that the character of Athena has the chance to go down as one of the most memorable "bad girls" in recent times.
Once again, I thank you for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
Matthew H Emma
