In Search Of Inspirational Screenplays

-true stories never told, ie "Hidden Figures"
-the fighter against injustice
-the person who challenges the norms

Strong character development is what is most important.

Title: "Silver Diamond's Plot"

Logline: Á troubled ex-cop turned lawyer must thwart a racist organization from unleashing a sinister wave of terror.

My name is Matthew H Emma and I have written an action thriller titled "Silver Diamond's Plot" that I would be honored if you took the time to consider. Recently, I sold one of my scripts to a production company.
"Silver Diamond's Plot" combines the intrigue of a Tom Clancy novel and the good old-fashioned butt kicking, street combat action reminiscent of Steven Seagal films. The story is about Paraskevi "Kev," a troubled former cop turned lawyer whose life is altered when Constantine, her former lover drops the bombshell revelation that he is a former member of a radical offshoot of Silver Diamond, a racist Greek terror organization intent on turning communities within the Greek Diaspora into racially pure Greek enclaves. Constantine possesses inside information about several terror plots Silver Diamond plans to execute and fears for the safety of his hometown of Astoria, Queens and the New York City area. He believes Kev, a one time member of the NYPD Anti-Terror Unit has the skills to thwart the attacks and begs for her intervention.
Though reluctant at first, Kev's desire to stop Silver Diamond turns into a fixation that is driven by a life-altering tragedy forever connecting her to the evil organization. Kev enjoys some early successes in her quest to eradicate Silver Diamond. However, Giannis, Silver Diamond's ultimate leader grows fearful of Kev's power and abilities and turns the focus of his organization's efforts onto eliminating her. The casualties are significant as Kev loses her job and marriage and nearly initiates a race was in Astoria. Through it all, however, Kev remains undaunted and focused on her mission. That is until Giannis forces Kev into an exciting, all or nothing climax of which the casualty could be the one thing most precious to her.
I am confident the intense action and high stakes in "Silver Diamond's Plot" will engage a wide array of moviegoers. Should you so desire, I would be glad to submit a copy of my script. Thank you for your time.
Respectfully,
Matthew H Emma

Re: In Search Of Inspirational Screenplays

This script is relevant to the current time and is a spiritual journey to a struggling young black man. It can also could be shot on a budget.

The Choirboy's Confession

Life is tough enough for Deshaun who tries to save enough money and keep his grades up to go to college as he keeps his older brother out of trouble while a man thinks he’s his angel after saving him from a suicide attempt.

“The Choirboy’s Confession” Deshaun hopped on his bike on a blistery cold night to ride home after working at the gas station. One of the two jobs he worked to save for college. He arrived home to find his troubled brother, Jamar, walking out the door with his best friend, Stick, who was a wannabe gang banger. Jamar was up to no good and Deshaun could sense it.
He dropped off his books and went to follow Jamar, finding Jamar and Stick standing outside a window at a nearby house. Despite a few attempts to stop his older brother from breaking in and being knocked to the ground, Deshaun was following his brother in through a bathroom window. Meanwhile, the owner of the house, Archie, was driving home and drinking whiskey. He was going to attempt suicide. Jamar was the first one out when Archie’s back was turned but Deshaun was trapped. Archie went straight into the bathroom and swallowed a handful of pills Deshaun, fearing something was wrong, checked in on Archie who had already crumpled to the ground. Archie looked up to see Deshaun, who had a fuzzy haze behind him making him appear as an angel. Archie knew at that moment that God did love him as he reached out to Deshaun.
Deshaun had him cough up the pills before calling 911 and crawling back out through the bathroom window. It was a typical scene at home, confronting Jamar on his troubled ways and then storming off to do some studying while telling Stick to go home.
Deshaun’s life would only become more complicated as Archie was destined to find him, convinced that Deshaun was an angel sent to save him. Meanwhile, Deshaun was trying to keep Jamar from doing drugs and more importantly, away from the neighborhood dealer, JJ and Stick, whom he despised.
Archie's life improved as Deshaun's got worse. The stress of school, work, and keeping an eye on his brother and grandmother was making it difficult to focus. Even worse, was hiding from Archie, who spotted him in the church. Deshaun began to question his own existence, wondering if he was an angel or at least held any special powers. His greatest relief would come from getting his brother out of the grips of drugs and being there for the dealer and prays for him as he lay dying in a hospital bed after being shot by the police and everybody else had abandoned him. Archie was able to help with a scholarship as Deshaun would realize his dream, going to college.

Hello,
Don't mess with this man's daughter, nor the Constitution of the U.S.

           BELOW LEVEL 7
           A screenplay by
           David Orange

When bitter, former Army special forces sergeant SAM DAWSON goes up to the mountains to kill himself, his young daughter, sensing something is up, pays him a visit and then mysteriously disappears.

Sam, out to save her, becomes a death sentence
when getting too close to the nerve center of a ghastly secret below a mesa. He recruits the help of a wild, old Special Forces buddy, and an aged doctor whose son is also missing.

The unlikely catalyst in helping them proves to be one of the enemies— or at least “half” of one. EL-TE is half-human Hubrid who has a real soft spot for those held captive. But can he be trusted in helping Sam’s team, or will he lead to their downfall?

The closer Sam and his team get to the truth when reaching down into the rabbit hole to find what is not a pretty story, the target on their backs becomes larger.

Fighting them every inch of the way will be a covert sector of the American government that those in the know call The Shadow Government. These lawbreakers that have evil forces overshadowing their judgments have effectively overthrown the Constitution. They know why people are disappearing and will do anything to protect the frightening Faustian bargain behind it.

Sam saving his daughter and the doctor’s son becomes the catalyst for many parents pleading that they also try and save their “Missing Persons” child... one of two-thousand a day average in the United States.

produced screenwriter's inspirational drama

Hello,
I’ve had a hand in writing the screenplays for 4 produced feature films, the most recent starring Academy Award Winner Ben Kingsley.

Please let me know if you wish to read my newest feature length, inspirational drama, MICHAEL’S CHOICE. The logline, synopsis and my bio follow. I co-wrote the script with Chicago playwright Lee Ori. If you wish to read the script, kindly share your name, bio and credits.

Thanks so much,
Richard A. Lasser

Logline
When a family’s long-buried secrets destroy their business, a young man is given the opportunity to step in and save it – if he can resist the lure of a street gang.

Synopsis
Against his will, troubled African-American MICHAEL, 18, goes to work at Happy Flowers, a neighborhood flower shop on Chicago’s gang-plagued West Side. Its mercurial, HIV-positive manager, ANDRE, puts social justice over profits, but still manages to keep the shop going. But when his father, VITO, is diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition, he and the boys’ stepmother, KATHLEEN, decide to bring in Andre’s older brother, DOMINIC – a successful real estate developer – to ensure the continued success of Happy Flowers. Andre and Dominic haven’t seen much of each other over the years and were never very close. Andre deeply resents Dominic and his wife, WHITNEY’s, decision to transform a neighborhood flower shop into a nationwide “McFlorist” empire. Set against the backdrop of endemic gang violence, the result is a violent clash of wills that unearths the family’s long buried secrets of alcoholism and forced, brother-on-brother incest, which ultimately brings the store down. That’s when Joker, head gangbanger, tries to force Michael to kill Andre.

Re: In Search Of Inspirational Screenplays

Hi there!

This Script is absolutely relevant for what is happening in today's trying times. It made the Page Awards Semi Final. It is a Dramedy with tons of Heart.

Logline:

Looking for Jesus:

Fallen to earth, an ambiguous charismatic man instinctively treks to the City of Angels, creating miracles by accident, while saving the spirituality of a rebellious teen scripturing Jesus’ existence.

Synopsis:Jesus ( pronounced as Hey-Soos) Cruz, is equipped with no more than a satchel, a poncho, a bedroll and a canteen when he wakes up in an orchard on a lavish estate in southern California after experiencing a magnificent dream. He feels compelled to make his way to a place he naively knows only as “The City of Angels.”

In Los Angeles, Hey-Soos’s random acts of generosity and accidental miracles astonish everyone he meets as he wanders around the city. He encounters a number of lost individuals and transforms their troubled lives with his charismatic looks and gentle wisdom and he Kicks some ass when it comes to the Catholic Church and Religions of the World. This Rebel Jesus, means business.

There’s John Reynolds, roguish, eighteen, tormented by nightmares originating from his strict Catholic upbringing. He desperately seeks spiritual guidance apart from the instilled teachings of his childhood. Hey-Soos subtly acknowledges John’s presence as the young man chases him around LA. Not being able to meet the ever elusive Hey-Soos, keeps John longing and wondering if Hey-Soos might provide answers to his inner dilemmas while writing in his journal, as he searches for the truth. Hey-Soos mentors Dottie Anderson, a sexy but goofy twenty-eight-year-old bank clerk on the protocol of the world of high finance, ingratiating her with his irresistible charm and intellect which allows him to cash a welfare check which he acquired with no Identification whatsoever, which in turn leads to a very satisfying sexual liaison. There’s Peter, a homeless Black man who is an alcoholic. Hey-Soos meets and befriends him in a food line at a shelter where he nurtures him with his unconditional love, setting him free to lead a meaningful life and lining him up to be the head of the next, New wave religion, “Peter, I shall call you the Rock”… Peter’s response,”Like that wrestler guy”, There’s also Patrick, twenty-five, a priest at John's church, who is enamored with John's extroverted sister, Maura, which causes her Father to write a substantial check to the church to save her depraved soul.

When Hey-Soos is picked up by officers of the LAPD after they find him sleeping under a tree on private property, Hey-Soss` destiny kicks into high gear, cementing in his mind for certain that he is indeed a very special person when his Mug shots and fingerprints can- not be taken , freaking to hell all the Cops at the station, and astounding Black Sarge, “Jumpin` Jesus, who in the hell are you”?

In jail, suppressed by a straight jacket, Hey-Soos meets Barabbas, a cagey criminal who takes an instant liking to his new cellmate and befriends him. He introduces himself to Barabbas as Jesus (not Hey-Soos). Sent to court with Barabbas at his side, Jesus, armed with his sardonic wit, endears himself to the presiding judge, thus delaying any further decision's on Jesus's fate. Instead, the judge remands him to a psychiatric evaluation at the state institution for the mentally challenged. There, tired and longing for comfort and love, Jesus speaks from his heart about the simplistic necessities of life and asks the Psychiatrist, “Can someone tell Bono, He’s no Jesus”. The truth sets Jesus free and motivates him to meet John. Destiny brings them together. They help a young female drug addict to die with dignity, peace, and respect. Jesus's journey is now complete. He exits this world as he came in, alone.
John, having now found Jesus, is transformed and challenged with a profound new love for life. With his journal and search completed, the world begins its metamorphosis into a brave new beginning, led on by Dottie, who has been appointed head of the Federal Reserve.

Re: In Search Of Inspirational Screenplays

Title: Abattage

Logline: When faced with the ultimate opportunity to attain his hopes and dreams, a headstrong and aspiring Nazi soldier must determine what is more important: honor and fortune, or the lives of the innocent.

Abattage tells the story of Corporal Wulfgang Lizzt, a Wehrmacht soldier who discovers a Jewish sanctuary designed to protect Germany's Jews from the ongoing Holocaust. Lizzt is successful in infiltrating the sanctuary disguised as an injured Jew, but struggles with his growing feelings of compassion for the enemy. Abattage explores the inner minds of Nazi soldiers and their moral standpoints; they are faced with the ultimate question: does one's duty and loyalty outweigh one's morals?

Heavily inspired by the Warsaw uprisings of Poland, Abattage shows that, in the case of the sanctuary's Jews, sometimes the greatest rebellion is merely living.

Historically, this screenplay draws inspiration from the Warsaw Uprisings during World War II, in which Jews of the Warsaw ghetto stood up against the occupying Nazis. Though failing to succeed, they made a bold statement about their will to survive. If you're interested, please either message me or send me an email at karjo3139@[sign in to see URL]. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Title: Tesla's Emissary
Genre: Mystery/adventure/supernatural

Two young people on different parts of the world experience paranormal phenomena at the same time for which they believe was a contact with aliens. Through a fantasmic, revealing journey they find out that the things are not as they seem to be, yet their role is critical for humankind survival.

It is The Da Vinci Code looked through the extraterrestrial prism.

I am a huge fan of astrophysics and also an upholder of conspiracy theories, which gave me idea for the script. The screenplay raises crucial questions about everything one believes, but most importantly ,,Who we are'' as members of human species. Hopefully, answers will present themselves, like they did to my protagonists.

Tesla's Emissary is based on well-know facts and intriguing speculations, which gives a real dimension to the story itself.

Title: The Last Statesman:
Genre: Dramedy

Logline: An old and cranky local politician goes publicly bananas in an effort to draw attention to an important social issue. This inadvertently puts the career of his son, the Governor of California, at risk.

This script was a PAGE 2015 finalist as well as a quarter finalist in previous Nicholls and BlueCat screenwriting competitions.

SYNOPSIS

LOWELL BACHMAN, is an 82 year, six term Los Angeles County Supervisor. He’s sarcastic, feisty and cranky having reached an age where it makes no sense to mince words. He’s also just had a disturbing visit with his Doctor. Although tests still need to be conducted, Lowell, already knows – it’s not going to be good news.

After his medical exam, Lowell attends the weekly Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors hearing. A meeting he has attended for 42 years. This one’s different. A woman begs the Board to provide protection for her teenage son, a witness to a gang related crime. Other than Lowell, her pleas fall on deaf ears. Her son is killed that very afternoon.

Lowell is stunned by the teenager’s death and ashamed that he and his fellow Board members sat on their bureaucratic hands. This forces Lowell to reassess his long political career. Lowell decides to make one last attempt to change his legacy while at the same time paying homage to the murdered teenager. He’s going to spear head the establishment of the County’s first gang related witness protection program.

However, none of the other Supervisors are interested in the issue, the local media could care less and Lowell can't move his agenda forward given the bureaucratic trappings of local politics and Board protocols.

In frustration, Lowell abandons politics as usual. He curses at the other Supervisors at Board Hearings and creates a weekly illness to as a cover for his erratic behavior (e.g., one week he has Tourettes syndrome, the following week, Alzheimers, etc.). His antics and feigned craziness become the focus of local and national news and become “must see TV”. A small price to pay to get folks to finally start paying attention.

While good for the cause, Lowell’s behavior serves as an embarrassment to his son, GOVERNOR JASON BACHMAN who happens to be in the middle of a re-election campaign. The press coverage of Lowell is killing Jason in the polls. To make matter’s worse. GEORGE MCKINNEY, another Los Angeles Supervisor has launched his own campaign for Governor and is using Lowell's behavior as the prime attack against his son. Jason asks his father to tone it down – but that’s not happening. It’s Lowell’s last chance.

Lowell ultimately convinces his son that he should join forces with him to achieve an even larger objective - to put a Statewide Witness Protection Program initiative on the ballot. Over the protests of his campaign staff, Jason puts his own political future at risk when he decides that he is going to help his Dad.

Jason is ultimately re-elected as Governor by the narrowest margin in the State’s history and the ballot initiative for a gang related witness protection program is successful. Lowell lives long enough to see the ribbon cutting on the first witness protection facility. Best yet, he knows that he has transformed himself as well as his son from a politician to a statesman.
