TORSO MURDERS
-Registered with WGAEeast

By Kathleen Gerritson & John Furnari

Genre: True Crime(based on actual events)

Synopsis:

Growing up the daughter of a Police Officer on the West Side of Cleveland Ohio in the 1950's, a young girl named Kathleen becomes preoccupied with her father Leonard's tales about an infamous unsolved case of a serial killer who dismembers his victims. Nearly every night Leonard would fill his daughter's head with the gruesome details of the notorious events and his connection to the case, so much so that it nurtures a deep compassion for the victims and an insatiable longing for some kind of closure. Over time Kathleen seeks out advise, feedback and comfort from friends, peers and family in a subconscious albeit vain attempt to reconcile the anxiety. Not that the family of five including Kathleen's parents and two brothers and husband latter on hadn't worries of their own.

As Kathleen matures into a young woman she frequently revisits the story not only because her dad was involved in the case but also because of her psychic abilities. These abilities would draw the attention of re-known Detective Frank Friel and his colleagues at the Vedocq Society. It seems that everybody wants a crack at this cold case and so the two actually meet at a convention in NYC to discuss their mutual interest. Kathleen you see, has knowledge, first hand knowledge of some material evidence not only through her dad's involvement but otherwise. As they share their thoughts and theories about the infamous events a story within a story unfolds against a background that spans over five decades. The manhunt for a killer, the tensions behind the scenes, details of the ritualistic killings and dismemberment, and the investigations are revealed along through bloody way in flashbacks.

And then there are other personalities involved not the least of which is former ATF agent - the “untouchable” Elliot Ness - newly elected Cleveland's Safety Director; two very idiosyncratic Chief Medical Examiners; the dedicated Cleveland Detective Peter Merylo of Ness's “Torso Clinic” Task Force; prominent Cleveland Elite; the numerous victims estimated at as many as fifty-plus and of course, their enigmatic killer.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about this butcher is how he brings together an unlikely cast of characters in this story amid the machinations of a city's politic fraught with clashing egos to the detriment of a solution. Everybody want's to be a hero, but things do not always turn out that way despite the best intentions as is the case here.

As the emotional center of this drama, Kathleen shoulder's on to make sense of what this killer has done – – a killer that prompted John Martin, editor of Harper's Magazine to observe “It can be argued powerfully that he was the most remarkable murderer of all time.” In the end there is a semblance of poetic justice that is sadly unknown to all involved particularly the victims.

Pitch: Nancy Drew meets The Lodger

Re: In Search Of Inspirational Screenplays

This script is about overcoming obstacles with a fallible hero that could be shot on a budget. I'm also working on the sequel.

“Superhero… Dudes” is when a young man breaks up a mugging and decides to go back out as a superhero, making himself a presence in his neighborhood and local park. His roommate decides to join him as they become popular with the locals and sometimes a joke with others. Meanwhile, their numbers grow as the local drug dealer sees his business dwindle and decides to go after the founder of the group.

This script touches on poignant topics like bullying, neighborhood vigilantes and local superheroes that go out in the community handing out care packets to the homeless, questioning people who loiter or wait around for drugs, and visit sick children. It also a subject that has been done many times before but I think my version is a little different with the community coming together to stand up against the local drug dealer and thug.

Please let me know if you have any interest. I can also have a lawyer contact you if needed. trey_haynes2000@[sign in to see URL]

Renascence, the life of Edna St. Vincent Millay who was the poet of the jazz age. was a suffragette. Lived in Greenwich village and knew everyone Communist or writers of The Masses. Openly bisexual. She lost a manuscript in a hotel fire and with damaged nerves recorverd the poems from memory. Had an open marriage, loved a man (who would also win the Pulitzer) half her age. Her car accident left her in permanent pain. Leading to addictions. she was an alcoholic as well. She did radio broadcasts during the war.
She fell down the stairs at her home in Steepletop to her death.

For your consideration:

Screenplay – Drama/Comedy
Title: Muddy Munday “Forward from a troubled past.”

Best Feature Film Script, 2017 European Independent Film Award

Inspired by a true story, set in current day Ireland.

Logline: “A Jamaican born, British football legend and his stubborn Irish sidekick, battle their own turbulent pasts, as they cautiously enter a mixed group of Protestant and Catholic orphans into the Northern Ireland Games.”

Synopsis: Our protagonists are business partners from disparate backgrounds. Retired European football star Marvin “Luther” Garvey and his cantankerous, Irish-Catholic friend, Padraic O’Kane, live comfortably while the struggles of the past shape and haunt their everyday existence. A wealthy Luther fights past and present day racism on the football pitch by lecturing throughout Europe. Paddy remains indignant about the treatment of Catholics in Ireland, especially the Bloody Sunday which ended the life of his young brother some forty-four years earlier.

Through a series of reality lessons, they both begin a healing process on different paths. Paddy’s initial transformation begins for all the wrong reasons. Eventually, he begins to accept those non-catholic citizens outside the comfort and security of his "RealSport” Pub, "St. Aidens" church and the "Gingernut” Barbershop. Luther’s epiphany comes about as the result of a chance meeting with an orphan boy named Manus Marley and his band of parentless footballers who hail from both sides of the sectarian tracks. Luther attempts to enter the young adults into the Northern Ireland Games known locally as “THE NIG.” Many people in both communities quietly condemn the multifarious squad, but a few protest violently.

Football teams from around the globe, such as “Pint Size Paris”, “Sisilly Boys” and the “Alabama Freedom Riders” from the U.S., are registered for the storied competition. An uncooperative committee finally allows Luther and the orphans to test their skills in the tournament. The “Kid United” team from England and the mixed green, ragamuffin “ProCats” face-off in the final match. In the end, the post-game actions of a few key players and “a wee bit a mud”, serve to unify everyone involved, especially on the issues of gender, class, race, religion and social indifference.

Final thought; “Selma meets Ned Divine wrapped in an Oliver Twist”
