Thriller w/elderly protagonists wanted.

A N.C. prod co inspired by recent Hurricane events seeks completed script, or one that can be finished by Oct 15th, set in a nursing home with an impending storm approaching.

This could be a comeback film for an "aging" actress.

produced screenwriter-for-hire responds

Dear NC Prod Co,
I am a multi-produced, award-winning screenwriter-for-hire with four completed feature film writing credits, and I'd love to pen your nursing home/storm screenplay. I've written for A-listers like Ben Kingsley, Maggie Q and Natasha Lyonne. I specialize in taking others' ideas, material, treatments, screenplay drafts etc. and converting or polishing them into compelling, produceable shooting scripts. In fact, I have been hired to write feature-length screenplays on incredibly varied subjects for over thirty different production companies.
My complete bio and credits follow.

And yes, I can complete a polished shooting script by October 15. Kindly note that I am not in a position to write on a deferred payment basis.
Best wishes,
Richard Lasser

Here's a clarification on the post:

When they say "or script that can be finished by October 15" they don't mean they are looking to hire you to write a script. They mean the script you have already started writing will be finished by Oct 15. In other words, pitch what you have.

*********************************************
And to those of you emailing me about more info on producers that don't post contact info:

I can't do anything about it if the producer wants to remain anonymous. Either you want to respond or you don't. You can just reply to the posts with contact info if you want---it's free choice here.

Again, they are looking for scripts that you have already completed or nearing completion.
They are not hiring you to write a script fresh. I'm sure they realize that there may not be a script out there this specific.

Although...(allow me to pitch myself), I do have this short laying around about a bunch of old guys in a home playing cards as a bad storm plays outside the windows. Is it a storm or the grim reaper? Hmmmm....

Don't anybody steal that.

The Maple Street Militia was inspired by a true story. Written for both stage and screen, Militia (the staged play won an award at the 2014 Maui Fringe Theater Festival. You can see a clip on the youtube links above for the staged play.

Logline for the SCREENPLAY: Four plucky senior citizens survive Hurricane Katrina, flooding and looters.

Synopsis: Three elderly New Orleans family, the Dubanoux's; Hugh, Reginald and Miss Prissy live in an old mansion on Maple Street in New Orleans. On the fateful day in August 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit with such force and destruction, leaving the Dubanoux's and their next door neighbor, Margaret Thompson to confront the devastating consequences of those living through Hurricane Katrina's wake.

The old mansion, which Miss Prissy says often enough, 'Termites is the only thing holding this old mansion together...' is badly battered during the storm. But this disaster gives Miss Prissy and Mrs. Thompson an opportunity to be the close friends that they were in their youth, till Mildred stole Miss Prissy's old flame Alfred Thompson away.

Though, Hugh, is a quiet elderly man, his brother, Reginald even in his eighties, on the other hand, is a man of military background and he takes matters into his own hands with the 'barrel of a Winchester 48'.

New Orleans is being set on fire by hoodlums looting and shooting in the streets. Law and order no longer exist in New Orleans. The many buildings are old and have gone up like kinling.

Bodies wash up and are carried away by the flood, as is the body of Miriam, Reginald's fiance. She owned the gun shop, which can be seen from the Dubanoux's old mansion. It is an old building and has gone up in flames. Miriam's body is carried right beneath their window on Maple Street. Reginald is devastated and almost looses his faith in God as well as any help coming from his country. . ( This is a very dramatic scene in my play which you can see on Youtube. )

Hugh, comforts Reginald after his loss, but, what comfort can there be for any of them to see Miss Prissy, who is old and has had several strokes die without any help coming. Reginald laments that, he is waiting for Miss Prissy to take her last breath.

Looters barge in dramatic military style, taking everyone off guard. Lieutenant Dan, a police officer has a simple boy helping him loot and murder. Miss Prissy tells Lieutenant Dan about a stash of gold coins that their father buried in a box in the cellar and how their mother ran through the house screaming in her robe and slippers when she thought all their money was lost in the Crash of '28 and that their father said, 'Woman, the money is in the cellar!'.

Hugh begs the looters not to pay her any mind, because Miss Prissy is very ill and has had several strokes. It is not until poor simple Tim fires a gun and is wrestled to the ground and shot dead, that the Dubanouxs are safe from the thieving looters. The other looter runs out the door before he is shot. There is no more law and order in New Orleans.

Almost ready to give up, Miss Prissy revives and reminds her brothers and Mildred Thompson, her friend and neighbor, that when they were children, they were The Maple Street Militia! They never gave in! They routed out the evil in all!

Suddenly, there is the sound of a motor boat! Reginald gets out his red handkerchief and out on the window ledge! The Murphys, a family that are stranded on their root top with a baby for days, are rescued! But, the boat is turning away! Will the boat rescue the Dubanouxs? Reginald waves his arms and his red handkerchief! The boat finally sees him. 'Am I the only person out on the window ledge hanging on by my fingernails', he yells at them! Reginalds faith in God and in the United States is restored.

They are rescued! And Reginald takes Miss Prissy's arm. She tells their father and mother that they'll have to wait... That she'll see them soon.... But, not now.....

Reginald escourts Miss Prissy out to the window, 'Ladies first,' he says......
