Re: Screenplays Wanted w/500 k Budget or Less

Ever feel like an outcast or an outsider with no place to call home? I sure did. Having spent much of of my time alone growing up raising my younger brother, I ended up homeless in my teenager years, living on the streets of Philadelphia during the most violent year in it's history. I've driven from PA to Florida, from PA to LA (where I live now) and have never felt I had a "home". This film is for all those beautiful drifters out there fighting everyday to survive in a broken American system.

Title: ONE FOR THE ROAD
Genre: Thriller/ Crime/ Coming of Age
Logline:

In this modern picaresque tale; Jack & Bethany, a pair of eccentric lovebirds/ drifters, are on a permanent crime spree through the Northeast. Forced to battle the brutal weather conditions of the winter and the dangerous climate of contemporary America, they must rely on team work, trust, and their own cunning to escape New Jersey and start a new life.

The villains they will face are manifestations of today's most vile adversaries; fraternity rape culture, greedy 1% billionaires, and meth addicted truckers that want to "Make America Great Again".

It's Easy Rider meets Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer on a stunning road trip through the suburban nightmare of New Jersey & Pennsylvania.

Re: Screenplays Wanted w/500 k Budget or Less

Not without a fight:
Two brothers who couldn’t be more different in character, happen to be the center of a town known for notoriety. But when the sheriff picks a new deputy for himself in the middle of rising allegations, the town finally seems to be in for a change.

Not without a fight:

For people living in Bulls Creek, rules and regulations have always been more like guidelines than anything else. And no one knows it better than ABRAHAM and the county sheriff, LOONEY. Abraham owns a workshop and has a few people working for him, including his brother, ALDEN who is a rather rash character. One morning, Sheriff Looney decides to visit the workshop with his newly appointed deputy, KELLER. But along with his visit he brings a warning to Abraham and his company. With the new mayor in town, Looney suspects that some people, jealous of the apparent freedom with which Abraham and his company seem to move around, are stirring up a plot to bring them down. When KURT, blatantly refuses by calling the scheme absurd, Looney reminds them of the arrests he’s made in the last few months and how Abraham’s crew has been involved in every one of them.

Abraham discusses the issue with his friend Kurt but decides not to act on it and instead wants to focus on something important, the acquisition of a new property for his venture. He has been using JIMMY, to help him look at some of the places, but after setting up a meeting with a mysterious man name CHO, he is nowhere to be found. Abraham asks one of his boys to find Jimmy and lets Kurt and Alden meet to go ahead and meet with Cho. Meanwhile, CLAUDIA, is back in town after working at a different state and wishes to meet up with Alden. And cause of that Alden doesn’t want the meeting to go long. When they arrive at the meeting site, against their expectations of meeting a man named Cho they instead meet with two men dressed up in dark suits who relay the message for Abraham. The property is all theirs, that is if they act fast.

When Abraham confirms the asking price, he starts getting a little skeptical, and so does Kurt. They both feel that the amount is too good to be true. He wishes to get more information regarding the property and the man named Cho but he does not have enough time on his hands and Jimmy is still nowhere to be found. Rex continues on with his search for Jimmy and gets a lead. When he tells Kurt and Abraham of Jimmy’s meeting with a man named Gambino, they are forced to consider a terrifying possibility that opens a door to the past.

Alden on the other hand meets with Claudia in a bar and then ends up in a fight. He wakes up the next day with Claudia. The man who he fought with ends up beaten to a pulp and then in the hospital. As it turns out the man, LARRY HOLLAND, is the new mayor’s brother in law. This puts pressure on the sheriff to follow through with the investigation. While all this is happening, Alden goes with Rex, to confront another individual who might know what’s happening. He refuses to talk but after they rough him up, he starts spilling the beans. He tells them of the scheme Jimmy’s been running to trap Abraham and his company, baiting them to make rash moves, assaults in particular so that they limit their power by the books. Just as the confrontation goes on, deputy Keller approaches the scene. At first, Alden doesn’t panic, but upon hearing the deputy say that Larry Holland is dead, he makes a run for it.

On top of dealing with Cho, Abraham now has his brother to worry about. This gets to him, and his relationship with his wife, ANN starts showing strains. They have been trying to start a family for some time and so far it’s not worked. Looney meets with Abraham and tells him that he can’t give him free passes anymore and that times are changing. He thinks that Abraham knows where his brother is but is keeping that information to himself. They end up getting into a fight. Meanwhile Alden goes on his own to try and make things right. He finds Jimmy’s location and decides to give him a visit. Jimmy tells him about Gambino and how there never was a man named Cho and that it was part of a ploy. With the men Gambino’s got on the inside, Jimmy tells Alden that getting the county rid of Abraham’s influence wouldn’t be a daunting task. Even if Abraham wouldn’t take the bait, someone would. Just as Alden is about to finish up with him, Gambino walks in behind him with a gun and a modest greeting.

Deputy Keller feels that Looney is still going easy on Abraham and his friends, and that the name Gambino was just another distraction to the case. Gambino hadn’t been seen in almost ten years and was a ghost. He is also convinced that it was Abraham who killed Gambino’s brother and that the sheriff was privy to that knowledge. He tells Keller that Abraham is not the bad guy and that he’s done a lot for the county. But Looney does insist that he’s no longer going easy on anyone.

Gambino meanwhile, doesn’t do any harm to Alden and instead gives him a proposition. He says he can make the charges against him disappear through his connections, but for that Alden has to kill, again. Abraham on the other hand is trying to figure things out on his own. He knows that Gambino is somehow connected to all of this and that he is out seeking for revenge for what happened to him and his brother ten years ago. It is deputy Keller who gives him the location of Gambino and sets up a meeting for the two. Abraham doesn’t like it at first but when deputy tells him that this is the only chance to bring down Gambino and clear Alden’s name, Abraham finally relents.

As Gambino meets up with the man Alden is supposed to kill at night, Alden does as he is told and plants a bomb under the vehicle. And after the car drives back into the darkness, Alden rejoins Gambino to tell him that it is his turn to live up to his side of the bargain. Gambino then starts a rant about the past and how Abraham cost the life of his dear brother. As conversation continues Alden has to consider a terrifying possibility. He starts chasing helplessly after the car in the night. In the distance, deputy Greene is waiting expectantly for Abraham’s return. As the vehicle comes nearer he notices someone crying out loud in the dark and before he can react the vehicle bursts into flame, with Abraham in it. Ann is devastated by the news and what makes it worse is that she’s pregnant with Abraham’s child. Keller does arrest Gambino but he knows that he will cut loose using his connections after finding another scape goat. The sheriff retires after that. And when he goes to visit Keller the new sheriff, he tells him that he was wrong about one thing. Abraham didn’t kill Gambino’s brother. He did.

Log line

For the first, time in his life a police Lt. Faces "world of Absolute Evil"

This menacing story revolves around a cast of characters who exude depravity, sadism, Intriguing and hatred.

Synopsis

Set in :Westchester County, New York State, this menacing story revolves around a

cast of characters who exude depravity, sadism,Intriguing and hatred. And, to make matters worse, the unwitting victims of this adult egotism are innocent children whose only wrongdoing is that they are there.

Lieutenant Michael Holmes,a detective specializing in unsolved crimes,is investigating the case of missing child... seven year-old Isaac Menis!after a while the police found his corpse…he was murdered!!!

The investigation is complex and increasing pressure is put on the detectives to find suspects. The first candidate is identified : Joshua Solomon-the mysterious leader of a religious cult whose relationship with children raises cause for concern. However, Lt. Holmes’deputy, Wally, is not convinced that Solomon is guilty, at least not of the Isaac case.

As the investigation unravels we learn of the utter disfunctionality of Isaac’s family - his divorced mother and father and their respective new partners. But of all these rather unpleasant figures, it is his father Abraham who surpasses them all in the bitter and twisted stakes. It would be hard to imagine a character as full of resentment, anger and misogyny as this bit-part actor and model.

Another character in this hate-fuelled bunch who could have reason to want Isaac’s disappearance to remain permanent is the partner of Isaac’s mother, Gideon, a gynecologist, who sees the child as an interfering obstacle to his efforts to control and manipulates Isaac's mother?

Although we are told that this is a ‘Delving into the Darkness’, paradoxically there are some clues that allow us to understand (but not necessarily like) even the most distasteful characters in this book: Abraham was severely abused by his mother as a child, and Joshua, despite his abnormal behavior, seems to be a genuinely caring although person. Nevertheless, an ominous air pervades this book, re-enforced by sinister misinterpretations of the Old Testament and Nietzsche. No one is beyond suspicion.

Eventually a trial is held and Solomon finds himself in the dock. The trial is complex, but despite his best efforts, Solomon’sattorney’s defense is demolished at each turning. It is only at the end of the trial that the terrifying truth is exposed.

The story is told in a series of fast moving scenes that heighten the tension and carry the reader along to reach a cliff-hanging conclusion. World of Absolute Evil is a novel that is gripping in its vivid portrayal of a society peopled by repulsive, self-seeking and, ultimately, psychotic characters. It is a book to be recommended to all fans of suspense thrillers.
