Romantic comedy about a forty-year-old neurotic, possessive, obsessive, intellectual, nervous guy who reflects on the breakup of his latest relationship with a woman who is the complete opposite of him, and how his traumas and insecurities led them both to an inevitable end, and the actions he takes to solve their situation.

It's a Woody Allen meets Kristen Wiig kind of script.

The Cullens are coming home for Thanksgiving. This includes Joe Cullen and girlfriend Becks, two beat cops dealing with Joe's recent shooting of a black teen. Chris Cullen, a public defender doing his best to distance himself from an all cop family. And Marnie Cullen, the youngest of the siblings who brings her new black boyfriend Kevon Harris home for the holidays. This proves poisonous to Joe, Chris and mother Janet, a widow still dealing with the recent passing of her veteran detective husband. A cop killed at the hands of a young black drug dealer.

A PARTY FOR JOEY concerns a once close family attempting to mend broken relationships and face the demons of their past and present. A one location, dialogue driven dramedy in the spirit of The Family Stone, August: Osage County and Myth of Fingerprints.

Re: Director Seeks The Right Script.

Hi,
I think I might have what you are looking for. This screenplay is set in Austin, Texas. However, I wrote it in such a way, that it could be anywhere. There are very minimal locations. Here is the logline and synopsis.
Thank you,
Tracy Simpson

“Coffee Breaks” (Treatment) By Tracy Simpson
Kelly, a green tea drinker, Jesus art lover, and yoga student tries to “mend” (control) her makeshift family (comprised of a techie, a plus size model, her autistic-artistic brother, and her architecture student sister whose only flaw is her near-perfection).

The story opens with Michael, an empathetic yet lonely computer techie who is secretly in love with Alisha, his roommate and collegiate, who is not only clueless about his feelings, but is currently having boyfriend issues of her own. Michael spends so much of his time daydreaming about Alisha that he’s unaware that his other roommate, plus size model, Gabi, also secretly pines for him. Kelly, Alisha’s older and neurotic sister, and their mentally challenged younger brother, Justin, have also recently moved into the house so the sisters can keep a close eye on their younger kin. All avid coffee drinkers (with Kelly’s exception for green tea to “calm her nerves”), the roommates have taken to the ritual of sitting on their front porch with their cups of java and dissecting their problems.
Kelly, still hurting from a bad break-up that was ten years ago, spends most of her time in therapy trying to get to the root of her issues, which has driven her on the verge of insanity when it comes to love and trusting people. Despite her boss having an interest in her, Kelly is not ready to move on or let someone in, so instead, she focuses her attention on smothering her brother, using his condition as an excuse to treat him as a child.
When Kelly accidentally walks in on Justin and his girlfriend being intimate, she finally realizes that he’s growing up without her assistance despite his mental handicap. This is too much for her to handle and she freaks out. Michael swoops in and rescues her from despair, patching her up both emotionally and physically after she goes on a drinking binge all night. After waking up from her emotional shamble of a life, Kelly too starts to have feelings for Michael turning this crazy triangle into a full on square of unrequited courtship.
When Alisha finally breaks up with her on-and-off again boyfriend for good, Michael tries to muster up the courage to ask her out, but utterly fails. Tired of Alisha’s cool treatment of Michael’s obvious advances, Gabi can’t take it anymore and tells her everything. Thinking with the truth being out that Michael will have no choice but to move on, Gabi is shocked to learn that Alisha returns Michael’s affections and they become a couple.
Kelly, realizing that her crush on Michael was indeed just a crush, steps aside after she sees how happy her sister has become now that she is with Michael. Gabi, on the other hand, does not take it well and breaks down. It’s during this time that Gabi reveals aged scars on her body and the physical and sexual abuse she sustained as a child showing what a lonely, damaged person she really is on the inside.
All of these things seem to disappear though when Alisha reveals a secret that she’s been keeping from Kelly and everyone else in the house: she has an inoperable brain tumor and has less than a year left.
Now with the burden of this information, everyone tries to make the next few months as
comfortable as possible for Alisha, especially by Kelly and Michael who are having a hard time
disguising their devastation. Alisha has made peace with her situation and tells Michael he
needs to also. Though it took her a long time to finally realize he was the guy for her, Alisha is
happy that she opened her eyes and was allowed this wonderful love even if it was for a short
time.
Alisha and Kelly decide to have a yard sell to get rid of “their stuff” – some of Alisha’s
belongings and some of Kelly’s ex-boyfriend’s things – both as a therapeutic event to help them
heal for different reasons. As luck would have it, both Alisha AND Kelly’s ex-boyfriends show
up at the yard sale looking to win both women back. Michael of course abruptly takes care of
that making sure neither guy is in any shape to talk to the sisters again.
As time goes on Alisha becomes more and more ill, to the point of being bedridden. It’s in this
state that she confides in Michael most: that after she is gone, he must promise to watch over
her sister and brother. She also reveals that she had a dream he and Gabi were together after
she died and she’s okay with that. After she passes she wants him to be happy and that if he
can’t be with her then it should be Gabi.
As Alisha dies so does the hurdle that holds everyone else back. Having gained strength
through Kelly, Gabi goes to a therapist and finally opens up about what happened to her as a
child and the abuse she endured, setting her on the road of internal healing. Kelly, finally
putting her ex behind her, accepts a date with her boss and it proves to be successful, lifting her
ten year relationship drought. Michael, having a hard time with Alisha’s passing, goes for a
drive by himself to clear his mind. When a dog darts out onto the road, he swerves and hits a
tree head-on. Alisha’s ghost appears to tell him that it’s not his time and for him to… go to
Gabi. She then shows him his future with her.
Gabi having followed Michael in her own car because she was worried about him, stumbles
upon the accident and helps him. He kisses her and the story concludes with Alisha’s ghost
smiling at the new couple who after facing so many obstacles and conflicts, finally found each
other in the end, if not at first by love, then by friendship.

Re: Director Seeks The Right Script.

When I'm not contributing to The Huffington Post and The Saturday Evening Post, I'm working on screenplays.

My favorite is "Hard Time."

Logline: Thou Shalt Not Rat

Idea: Goodfellas meets Crocodile Dundee.

Synopsis: Omerta--the Mafia's "sacred" vow of silence and secrecy. Hardened mobster Tommy Roma does forty-eight years in prison for this very concept, after witnessing his boss, Mr. Spirochete, commit a double-homicide and taking the blame himself for the grisly murders.

Now, forty-eight years later, Roma is unleashed upon 21st Century America. A classic fish-out-of-water tale, "Hard Time" is about a man who has trouble assimilating into 21st Century America. Gritty, darkly comic, and suspenseful, "Hard Time" is based off Jack Bristow's Saturday Evening Post short story, "Joe's Coffee Shop," published in 2016.

Horror/Thriller from New York writer.

Setting is a major metro area (currently Chicago, but could easily be modified to any large American city.) Most scenes suburban, but some in city.

Five principal characters: two men & two women (30's); one man (50's)

Some SFX, but nothing extravagant (Star Wars it ain't).

LOGLINE:

If Norman Bates from “Psycho” and Carol Ledoux from “Repulsion” had had a daughter, she might be a lot like Sarah Lilith: a contemporary sociopath who lures men to her suburban home and murders them, only to encounter the family of one of the victims subsequently

Good morning,

I'm a produced (and recently optioned) writer with a project I sincerely believe will "speak" to you.

"EX IN THE HOUSE" – Comedy Feature

When financial concerns cause a recently divorced couple to continue to live together, the ups and downs of this tempestuous relationship are seen through the eyes of their fifteen-year-old tranquility-seeking, Dalai Lama-loving son, Reuben.

Credibility note: an [sign in to see URL] duo with a celebrated Matthew McConaughey vehicle will be producing one of my features. We have a director attached and are moving full steam ahead.

Would you like to review a pdf?

Thank you.

Stage play/screenplay entitled "Manson"

Have you ever thought about putting a stage play to film? I am a screenwriter who has written a feature length stage play about Charles Manson. This production is three quarters stage and one quarter film. Here is the basic premise.

"Manson". A stage play about Charles Manson based on how Charlie created his own hell. It is entitled, Manson. The setting takes place in prison while Charlie has uncontrollable nightmares. The prison psychiatrist helps Charlie understand that the nightmares are about his mother and the boy he once was and still is. The stage is surreal, sometimes reality and sometimes dream with a jail cell that rolls in and out and two silent guards who are always with Charlie. People come to visit such as Tom Snyder, his grandmother, Dennis Wilson, Sharon Tate and His
mother who discuss their issues with him.

Let me know if you would like to read the script.
