I have a feature comedy about a once-aspiring screenwriter who became a soul-crushing studio executive:

WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA?
After saving their studio jobs by revamping and pitching an old script as their own, a pair of slacker junior executives struggle to meet demand when the studio heads order to keep the material coming.

HIDDEN AGENDA-High Concept, High Stakes, Female-Driven, Suspense/Thriller.

Logline: A desperate writer strikes a devil's pact with an escaped convict. ####

Synopsis: Colorado State Penitentiary. "Jagged Edge" meets "The Fugitive" when convicted killer Jack Morgan (40-46) masterminds a prison escape. Traveling on foot, he heads for the town of Canon City – where he was sentenced to life imprisonment, three years earlier, for brutally murdering a woman.

The next day we meet Clair Kinsey (37-42), a once prominent author – destroyed by fame – wandering across the country, desperately hoping to rekindle an interest in living. The story of a lifetime lands in her lap when Jack Morgan unexpectedly kidnaps her, and uses her RV as a hideout.

A week later, Jack leaves Clair securely gagged and bound in her RV, parked at the Denver airport. An anonymous call alerts Denver police to Clair’s location – and the sensational revelation that she was kidnapped by escaped convict Jack Morgan.

In no time, with the front-page headlines of her abduction paving the way, Clair drives to Canon City and begins researching Jack’s murder conviction for her next book, or so we think, until events undergo a dramatically, unexpected turn.

Clair is joined by her research assistant, Mark White, who is revealed to us as Jack Morgan in disguise -- his appearance changed completely -- and we are privy to the realization that Clair and Jack have struck a devil’s pact, and are working together to get the inside story for her, and proof of innocence for him.

But, is Jack innocent or guilty? A justifiably, paranoid underdog, determined to overturn his conviction. Or, a brilliant, devious psychopath, using Clair in a twisted plan of revenge. Warily, Clair treads a razor’s edge of uncertainty, depending on an investigation of the murdered woman for the answer. ####

HIDDEN AGENDA - suspenseful, surprising, and extremely satisfying.

Thank you for your consideration. If interested, please contact me directly.

Sincerely,

"Ascension"
By Mark Mc Quown
MarkMcQuown@[sign in to see URL]

Synopsis

Alec King is a modern day screenwriter, husband, friend to neighbors and certainly curious about his life and the lives of others around him. Alec, while working in his Hollywood Studio, has a heart attack and is rushed to a local hospital where he is pronounced dead and is revived two times in what for Alec is a life time of times.

Alec wakes up in recovery only to be hoisted out of his life and cast into his lives in the future where he meets a series of people who tell him things that he knows are impossible. Alec is caught between life and death in a dream except that he is very much alive in the in-between places he finds himself.

Before his heart attack, Alec had been interested in a possible storyline for a movie and he was researching that story when his heart failed. In the hospital, in the seconds and fractions of a second between life and death – Alec runs square into his own research and begins unraveling the story he was interested in writing. Unfortunately that story leads Alec on a very mysterious adventure where his life is left in the balance of information that he learns while he is legally dead.

While dead and his body being worked on in the ER Surgical Theater, his spiritual body is out of body and looking desperately for a way to return. Alec meets Chandra at the local library and she begins to act as a guide as she is not real herself although she knows who she is and what her journey is all about. George, Alec’s across the street, psychiatric neighbor is in this dream and he is trying to convince Alec that this dream life is a dream and Alec must escape it before he loses his own life in his own world and in his own time.

Alec meets others like Stephen who seems to know a lot about why Alec is floating around looking for his real physical body and Holice, a female with a Doctor’s Degree in Metaphysical Behavior and Paranormal Associations. Alec listens to Holice briefly and then escapes her home as he starts to put together answers to this very personal dilemma.

Of all the characters Alec meets in his journey, a psychic from The Psychic Eye Store scares him crazy when she tells Alec, in so many words, that he is dead. From that moment on Alec is in a race for his life as his physical body goes through shock therapy in the ER Surgical Theatre and his spiritual body is lost in a world more like a jigsaw puzzle than any thing else but threatening him at every moment with the possibility of his death.

“Ascension” is a mind game story where one man learns that the fate of his own personal life has always been in his hands and that there is a real world out there, in the ethers that surround us, and moves with us in perfect harmony unless death doesn’t quite get you at your door but gives you another chance to work out your crazy life as we and Alec know it.

Just a followup to my previous submission to you: my script, "Chasing Spielberg," just won the Director's Choice award at the Austin Revolution Film Festival. The script is about a screenwriter and novelist.

Thanks.
